Torres SE 57 – Official Presentation

Back to listing of Torres guitars

On March 31, 2022 the Segovia Museum in Linares, Spain presented an article written by myself, María José Tirado and Lepoldo Neri along with the guitar which is the subject of the article. Entitled: Authenticating an Antonio de Torres guitar: SE 57 from the Fundación Casa-Museo Andrés Segovia we chose to dedicate it to José Luis Romanillos. If you can get access to the article (Roseta No. 16)

you will see that in addition to examining the known markers of Torres’ work we were able to compare specific Torres guitars which I had studied previously. A dendrochronological anaysis was performed as well and showed that the top wood coincides perfectly with another of his guitars: SE58. Not included in the article is the process of restoration which I undertook at the beginning of this year. The guitar was in remarkably good shape but had suffered some damage and had been restored twice before. This time it was just a question of reinforcing some cracks, making new nut and saddle, repairing a tuner roller and a few other minor problems.
